OMFC has been established for over fifty years and, at the time of writing (mid-2024), it has over 100 members and almost every aspect of model aircraft and multi-rotor flying is represented. OMFC is affiliated to the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) and BMFA membership is mandatory for all of our flying members.
Visiting BMFA members taking part in OMFC Competitions will become OMFC members for the day and must be familiar with and abide by the Club Rules which can be downloaded below
Our main flying site is Port Meadow, which is one of the finest locations for model flying in the country. We also fly small models from Begbroke Village Hall playing field at our monthly meetings and other events. Although it is not a dedicated OMFC flying site, the nearby Wittenham Clumps, which are two low hills situated about ten miles south of Oxford, may be used for slope-soaring.

If you are new model flying and want to learn more about starting out you can download an introduction to free flight written by Bob Lee or for RC flying a guide for beginners written by the Simon Burch which covers all aspects of RC from fixed wing aircraft to helicopters and multirotors.
Also, many of our RC flyers have found PC-based RC simulators invaluable for learning, practising and improving their flying. One of the best RC simulators, PicaSim, is currently freely available on the Internet, and you can download advice on how to use it here: A guide to PicaSim
PicaSim is available for iOS, Android and Windows and can be downloaded here
